In which Bonnie sacrifices her life to save her two white best friends and her white boyfriend, and then doesn’t even want them to know she’s dead because it’ll hurt their feelings too much so she tells people to tell everyone that she’s gone to stay with her mother for the summer like she’s a puppy who got hit by a car and her friends are seven year olds whose parents think they can’t handle the truth.
The more I think about it this morning the more I really did not enjoy Into Darkness as a whole film.
There were definitely things I really liked— so much Spock/Uhura, everything Scotty did, Uhura standing up to the Klingons was awesome, the militarization of Starfleet, the gorgeous cityscapes.
But there was so much shit peppered throughout. I just— I feel like we can end this franchise now and get back to television.

—Okay so I’m on S5 of Sons of Anarchy now and it’s getting super interesting.
I don’t know how to express exactly it just yet since I’m only on episode 4, but like… for the first time SAMCRO is being forced to interact with a Latino and a Black man who own (semi)legitimate businesses and have decent amount of power, and it’s freaking them out. There’s good reason for some of that freak out, obviously (that Opie scene, y’all. That Opie scene), but I do wonder how much of it is race related. The white supremacist Big Bad who had Gemma raped didn’t garner this much fear from them, and he was also in bed with senators and CEOS.
But until now, all the Blacks and Latinos they’ve interacted with have really just been fellow gang members (9ers, Bastards, and Mayans). So their inbred racism has been directed at people who’re all pretty much on the same level as they are. Having them have to deal with minorities with more power and influence than them is kinda interesting.
IDK. I’ll think about this more later, but in the meantime I’m really enjoying watching SAMCRO freak out at the idea of a powerful Black man crushing them with the snap of a finger.

This is disappointing. Rereleased breakdown for the formerly new Afro-American character on Once Upon A Time that I’d posted before. While the role has now possibly expanded, there’s no ethnicity specified meaning it’s an open call. Guessing it’ll probs go white now. We’ll see.
